Sustainable materials and renewable resources
Our solid wood comes from French forests that help to preserve the environment by encouraging the growth of trees and following sustainable forestry practices to ensure the continued availability of this resource.
Our leathers come from local (French or European) producers and we choose the best craftsmen in their fields.
Our brass hardware, for example, is a top-of-the-range alloy favoured by sailors for its low level of oxidation.
Made locally
Our furniture is manufactured in our workshops in Portugal and France, to reduce the carbon footprint of our goods and improve manufacturing management.
Responsible manufacturing
Starbay furniture is made from 80% solid wood.
Solid wood requires less energy than other building materials and, whether during extraction, transport or processing, generates a smaller carbon footprint.
As well as being biodegradable and recyclable, solid wood furniture offers strength and longevity, reducing the demand for new resources and the amount of waste.
As a manufacturer of solid wood furniture, we adopt environmentally-friendly practices throughout the production chain, using water-based finishes, minimising waste and choosing more sustainable production methods.
Traditional methods
Our furniture is made and assembled in the traditional way (mortise and tenon joints, dovetail joints, etc.) to minimise the use of hardware.
Tailor-made packaging
We limit the use of non-sustainable packaging materials such as plastic, polystyrene or polypropylene and use cardboard, which is recycled or recyclable.
The packaging is adjusted to the packaged furniture to reduce waste.
Careful transport
We choose to group our transfers from the workshop to the warehouse in order to limit our impact on the environment.
What's more, to serve you better, we prefer transport companies that use environmentally-friendly modes of transport, such as rail, electric or hybrid vehicles where possible, to limit carbon emissions.
