Our materials

Cherry
(prunus avium)

Bois merisier

A certified wood that grows in our sustainably managed European forests. A very valuable wood, it is highly sought after in cabinetmaking for its compact texture, pinkish-brown colour, fine grain, straight fibres and numerous knots, which add an attractive pattern to furniture.

Yellow Birch is slow-growing and very demanding in terms of planting, making it a rare wood with limited availability.

American black walnut
(juglans nigra)

Bois noyer

A cousin of European walnut, American black walnut is of exceptional quality. Its superb chocolate black colour and inimitable grain make it the wood of choice for luxury furniture. Very heavy and hard, its fine grain is much appreciated by cabinet-makers.

Brass

Quincaillerie en laiton

Unavoidable of the nautical universe, is naturally that brass comes orner our creations. Moulded angle reinforcement, hinge or handle transport, it is polished and integrates perfectly in our furniture.

Leather

Cuir pleine fleur

Our full grain cowhides have an antique patina. They adorn our handles, straps and seats, and are topstitched with the utmost care.

Bones

Pièces en os

Our Starbay logos and handle knobs are made from needle-engraved bone and delicately inked. A trademark unique in the world.
