Travel diary

Extract from "A treatise containing the easiest and most reliable method for converting those who have separated from the Church" by Cardinal de Richelieu (1585-1642), published in 1651.

Approval of Monseigneur l'évêque de Chartres. Having had the honor not only to witness the zeal with which Monseigneur le Cardinal de Richelieu worked day and night, as much as the affairs of the State could give him the leisure, to compose the very excellent Work he entitled "A treatise containing the easiest and most reliable method for converting those who have separated from the Church", but also to have been expressly charged by this great man on his deathbed to give it to the public, I would have much wished that the Church had rather enjoyed earlier such a rare masterpiece, which will undoubtedly be very useful to her. (...) Done at Chartres this October 17, 1650 Jacques, évêque de Chartres".
