THE TRUTH ABOUT GRETA GARBO

Much has been written and said about Greta Garbo. She has been portrayed as a misanthrope, a proud, distant, bitter woman. But no legend is more false than this one. All you need to do is ask those who were close to the famous star.

- Greta Garbo?" exclaimed Philippe Hérita, as he was interviewed on his return from Hollywood: "She's a great lady, the true lady of Holywood. But she's also by far the simplest, the least "star" of all the "stars".

And now Jessie Ralph adds:
- Garbo, proud and aloof? What a joke! Of all the stars I've met, she's the most "human", the most charming and the simplest!

And Miss Raph is well-informed. She plays the role of the nurse Nanine in Marguerite Gautier's novel, in which Garbo plays Marguerite, the famous Dame aux Camélias by Alexandre Dumas jeune, while Robert Taylor resurrects the romantic and seductive Armand Duval. Marguerite Gautier's novel runs from April 25 to May 1 at Cinéma SCALA.
